Nowadays, more and more attention has been drawn to the production of sustainable energy by various authorities, like the Rijksoverheid. This governmental authority created regulations, stating that, in The Netherlands, by the time it is 2020, 14% of the produced energy should be produced in a sustainable way. However, it is not easy to actually achieve this, due to constrictions like a non-optimal wind climate, which is the case in eastern parts of The Netherlands. Due to this wind climate, there are only a few areas available to place wind mills that will produce energy in an effective way. This is partially the reason for us to develop a new way of producing wind energy, without needing a lot of actual wind. Our affordable X-MILL makes this possible.
To increase the efficiency of the wind mill, X-MILL is equipped with a special vertical setup and a unique construction for the air-intake. This enables the rotor with generator to be directly driven, resulting in a higher amount of energy production and a lower cost price. For this, a relatively lower wind speed is necessary. In figures, it means an annual increase in the energy production of 3000 hours and a reduction of the cost price by 40% will be perceived. In order to improve both the efficiency and the placement possibilities, X-MILL is relatively small in size and weight. Also, X-MILL does not contain a mast, which enables the mill to be placed on smaller areas like roofs, towers and higher places. As a result, the inconvenience of residents in the neighbourhood will decrease. To improve the efficiency of the wind mill even more, we developed a special generator: X-GEN.
